Septic Systems

In Amherst, all Septic System Contractors need to obtain a license issued by the Inspection Services Department. This annual license requires renewal at the close of each calendar year.
Also, in accordance with local regulation, all Title 5 inspections must be witnessed by an Amherst Board of Health Agent. Inspectors can arrange a witness by calling: 413-259-3030.

Application Requirements

       

1. Any individual seeking to operate as a Septic System Contractor must submit an    
           application to the Inspection Services Department. (application link below)

      2. With the application, please include: 
            a. Fee of $175.00
            b. Certificate of Insurance
            c. Workers' Compensation Insurance Affidavit

       3. Return complete application to:
