The Amherst Town Council seeks volunteers to serve on Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals.

The Town has over 30 boards and committees that support the work of the Town government and each has multiple residents who are members. Of those, the Town Council appoints the members of the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). Terms of service are three years; terms for associate members of the ZBA are one year.

Members with terms expiring who have served one term may seek reappointment.

The Town Council seeks residents who have relevant expertise or experience with aspects of planning, development, design, land use law, architecture, construction, zoning, and/or real estate, or who are willing to expand their knowledge. We are especially seeking individuals of diverse backgrounds to serve on these boards, including those who have no prior municipal government experience.
